Seasons

  • Dry Season (Summer): Typically runs from late November through April

    • Peak dry months are usually January–March

    • Expect sunny days, little rain, dusty roads, and hotter temperatures.

  • Green/Rainy Season (Winter): Typically runs from May through November

    • Rain usually starts lightly in May, with the heaviest months often being September and October

    • Mornings are often sunny, with rain more common in the afternoons/evenings. The landscape becomes lush and green.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS DRY SEASON?

Wind
Consistent offshore winds are common throughout the mornings, creating clean surf conditions and groomed waves. Afternoon sea breezes can pick up, but evenings are often calm with beautiful sunsets.

Temp
30–36°C daily (86–97°F)

Season
The dry season brings sunny days, low humidity, and very little rainfall. Expect dusty roads, lush beach days, and reliable sunshine from morning to evening. Water conservation becomes especially important this time of year due to limited rainfall and increased demand.

Swell
More consistent north and northwest swells compared to green season, mixed with occasional Southern Hemisphere energy. Conditions are typically clean and fun, especially during the morning offshore winds, making this one of the most popular surf seasons in Nosara.

WHAT TO EXPECT THIS GREEN SEASON?

Wind Generally calm winds in the mornings, with occasional offshore conditions. Afternoon rains are sometimes followed by glassy evening sessions.

Temp  28–33°C daily ( 82-91°F)

Season Less offshore wind than the dry season, with more frequent rain. Afternoon and evening showers are common. However, mornings and evenings are often beautiful, and some of our best sessions and sunsets happen during green season.

Swell  Stronger, more consistent Southern Hemisphere swells than the dry season. We’re back in an El Niño pattern, so surf should stay consistent, though there’s typically less activity from the north compared to the dry season.
